Q1. Are DOCOMO handsets available for purchase in the USA?

A1. At this time, DOCOMO handsets are only available for purchase in Japan.

 

Q2. Can I use a DOCOMO handset purchased in Japan in the USA?

A2. DOCOMO handsets purchased in Japan are only operable within the NTT DOCOMO network in Japan. Although DOCOMO offers international roaming in the USA, activation of handsets and service contracts are handled exclusively in Japan.

 

Q3. Does DOCOMO have customer service counters in the USA?

A3. Yes. DOCOMO has customer service counters in New York City and Hawaii. For additional information, please click on the tab for the customer service counters.

Q4. When will DOCOMO service be available in the USA?

A4. Since November 1, 2004, DOCOMO USA offers a Public Wireless LAN access service for Japanese-speaking residents in the United States, called “Namikiteru®” service. For more information, please visit the “Namikiteru service” section of this website.
