“namikiteru™” Users Can Stay Connected in Flight with Connexion by Boeing
New York, September 12, 2005 — NTT DoCoMo USA, Inc., the American subsidiary of NTT DoCoMo, Inc., Japan’s largest mobile communications company, today announced the launch of a roaming service to enable users of DoCoMo USA’s proprietary Public Wireless LAN access service called “namikiteru” to connect to the Connexion by BoeingSM high-speed internet service in flight.
DoCoMo USA’s “namikiteru” users will enjoy an in-flight high-speed Internet service, simply by accessing the Connexion by Boeing homepage and entering their “namikiteru” username and password. Billing for the service will be added to the user’s existing monthly “namikiteru” bill.
The service fee will be a flat rate that varies according to the length of the flight.
$14.95 on flights of 3 hours or less
$19.95 on flights of 3 to 6 hours
$29.95 on flights of 6 hours or more
The roaming service is available on approximately 150 international flights, including Japan Airlines and ANA flights between New York and Tokyo.
